My 20th Bday!

Mom!!!!
SO good to hear from you! Sounds like you guys enjoyed your spring break this week! Sunny St. George, hikes and softball/baseball games sound like a perfect weekend! Im glad you all had fun. :) Hahha thats so funny what Tracee said! Im so happy Pres is getting coached by her and Josh Gunn. They are awesome! Preslee is super lucky to be playing for them. It sounds like she´s doing great. And that is so funny about her driving permit. Tell her that she needs to hurry and get her permit so she´ll be able to drive me around when I get home. Dont you need you your permit for like 6 months before you can get your license? hahah. And also Riley! It sounds like he is having a ton of success out on the mound. Im so happy for him! Thats awesome to hear how good Ken is doing! It sounds like she´s slowly but surely getting in the rhythm of everything. Im so happy she´s been able to start hanging out with her friends more and more. :) I love hearing about everyone! Sounds like things are going good at home. :)

This week was a good one! We had such an awesome lesson with one of our investigators Shantal. We introduced her to the Book of Mormon and watched the video on the restoration. She kept saying, "What you guys believe in is so different from any other religion! It makes me want to know more and more!" (in spanish of course haha) she told us that in the days that we´ve been visiting her she has gone through so much, but at the same time has felt so much peace and comfort. She loves reading the Book of Mormon! She has so many questions for us. She is a golden investigator! Her daughter is so so funny too. She says the funniest things. There´s a stray dog that she loves to play with and she calls him "Nieve" (snow). I dont know, but its really funny. Shantal is such a blessing though. It´s been so awesome teaching her about the restored gospel. She´s been able to open up to us more and more these past few visits and its been awesome! Im excited to keep teaching her.

We had a multizone conference with President Ruiz and Hermana Ruiz and I want to share something that President Ruiz shared with us. He told us that we should have the atonement written on our hearts. I dont think we are ever going to comprehend what the Savior went through or how he felt when he atoned for us but we can comprehend the significance of His sacrifice when we use the atonement in our lives. We need the atonement every day. We have the opportunity to use the atonement every single day. We should use the atonement everyday. It´s a gift given to us! None of us are perfect! We are all children of our Heavenly Father who are trying to become more and more like him. The atonement of Christ is perfect. How lucky are we to have an older brother who voluntarily performed the atonement for our happiness and our salvation.

Yesterday we were leaving a conference that we had with 2 other stakes and I heard someone yell my name, "HERMANA GATES!!!" I looked over and guess who it was!!! Tarah Lee!!! I played softball with her in high school! I was a freshman!! I think she was a Senior then! BUT it was the craziest thing! She served her mission here in Merida and returned home last May. It was so fun seeing her! It was so crazy to see someone from back home. :)

Thank you for the birthday wishes!! I am so lucky to have such wonderful people in my life! Im defiitely enjoying my last day as a teenager today haha! Thank you for all of the love and support. I have been blessed with the greatest examples. I love you so much and hope you have a fantastic week. Talk to you next week!! :)
Love, Hermana Gates
